Daniel Fanslau: Swiss Celebrity Interviews

“The Space” by and with Daniel Fanslau returns with a second season in January 2026 – and remains true to itself: celebrities from all corners of Switzerland meet the moderator for honest, truthful conversations.

Not a classic talk show, but a place to pause: In the second season of “The Space”, presenter Daniel Fanslau once again invites public figures to find out their perspective on life.

“The idea behind ‘The Space’ is quickly explained: We give people a space in which they can meet – authentically, unfiltered and without having to play any role. Only real conversations, only what really counts,” says Daniel Fanslau.

Prominent guests from Switzerland

The guest list for the second season is also deliberately diverse. Different paths in life, experiences and worldviews come together and open up perspectives that are rarely heard.

“It’s the differences that make it exciting. I wanted to bring people together who have completely different paths in life and perspectives. That’s exactly what creates the special, enriching conversations,” explains Daniel Fanslau.

Daniel Fanslau also has an honest conversation with Baschi in the new season of “The Space”.

Let’s start with Huggel, Wemmse and Sieber

Former national soccer player Beni Huggel kicks things off. He talks about his career, but especially about the time afterwards: about identity beyond professional sports, about the pressure of public expectations and about the question of who you are when the applause falls silent.

With content creator Wemmse, real name Emma, the focus in the second episode is on a young voice that navigates between digital publicity and personal down-to-earthness. She talks about her success on social media, self-doubt, closeness to nature and the close relationship with her blind sister. Her collaboration with Roger Federer is also discussed.

Astronaut Marco Sieber offers a radically different view of performance, risk and teamwork. His conversation is about the tough training at ESA, fears, superstitions and the fascination of space. Sieber speaks openly about the psychological and physical limits that an astronaut has to accept and about the dream of being the second Swiss person to leave the earth behind.

Baschi and Basler as the crowning glory

In his episode, musician Baschi looks back on a twenty-year career in the Swiss music scene. He talks about success and setbacks, personal changes, new music and what really matters in life. Topics such as love, family and money are not left out, but rather placed in a larger context: What does happiness mean when success has long been there?

The season ends with Patti Basler. The satirist talks about her journey from teacher to stage artist, about her view of politics and society and about the challenge of combining criticism and humor without losing sight of people.

Daniel Fanslau meets his guests at eye level. In episode 2 he talks to influencer Wemmse.

More about Daniel Fanslau

Daniel Fanslau isn’t someone who sits down in front of a microphone to hear himself: he really listens. This is exactly where its particular strength lies. Anyone who meets him – on the radio, in the podcast or on “The Space” – quickly senses that he is not interested in quick punch lines or perfect headlines, but in real encounters. Many people will know his voice from the morning program on Radio Energy, where he has hosted “Energy Mein Morgen” every day for years.

What sets him apart from many other presenters is his look behind the surface: Daniel Fanslau studied German, popular cultures and ethnology – he is interested in language, in cultural influences, in the why behind the what. For him, conversations are not a means to an end, but rather a space of knowledge. This is exactly what is particularly evident in his science podcast “Überblick”, in which he presents complex topics in an understandable, curious manner and without academic distance.

With “The Space” Fanslau has fulfilled a dream: the format is his personal response to a media world that is often loud, fast and one-dimensional. He takes his time with his guests, asks questions that don’t aim for headlines, and allows for breaks so that honesty can emerge.

Curious? The second season of “The Space” starts on January 5th exclusively on Joyn. From January 12th, the series can also be seen on SAT.1 Switzerland – and at the same time also available for free in the live stream on Joyn.
