Marie is one of the two compositions that the group Lucie released at the beginning of the year after Viktor Dyk replaced the previous member David Koller in its line-up. She managed to concentrate in it everything essential that belongs to her handwriting, including sound and mood. The song then became an integral part of Lucie’s concerts.
Ben Cristovao, Sofian Medjmedj: Fancy
The tandem of Cristovao and Medjmedj joined a strong song team this year and brought out two albums straight away. The first was released under the name Khaosan, the second a few weeks later under the name Denpasar. The first act also includes the song Fancy, which has all the pros and cons of young Czech pop.
David Stypka & Bandjeez: They already carry me
The hussar piece was done by producer Martin Ledvin and the members of Bandjeez. Together they used demos of unreleased songs with David Stypka singing and recorded their final versions on the Opatruj record. David Stypka died in January 2021 and Opatruj is his second posthumous album. The song Už mě ne sou has exactly the nobility that he gave to his compositions when he was still around.
Mirai: Gems (Acoustic Version)
At the beginning of November, the band Mirai released the single Drahokamy. Less than a month later, she prepared a more intimate, acoustic version of the song and shot a video for it from the snowy Lysá hora.
“I have climbed Lysa Hora so many times that I can’t even count. There is no other mountain in the world that I have a closer relationship with,” explains Mirai Navrátil.
Lipo, Anna Slováčková: You are always in my heart
Rapper, singer and composer Lipo recorded the emotional ballad You’re in Me Forever with Anna Juliá Slováčková in February 2025. It talks about the cycle of life and the things that a person loses during it. In April, Anna Slováčková lost her battle with cancer. The power of the song multiplied that day.
Michal Hrůza: The magic of solitude
“I feel like it’s the strongest thing that’s come out in the last few years. I’m looking forward to hearing it,” says singer, guitarist and composer Michal Hrůza about the title track from his album this year. The clip for it is partly composed of footage from the singer’s October trip to the Arctic Circle, where he set off on a nearly six thousand kilometer journey in his used Golf.
Fish 48: Heavenly Prana
The Kutnohorsk band Rybičky 48 is undergoing a transformation. Her new album is sympathetically rock, although it retains a punk ferocity in many places. It also features the song Heavenly Prana, the most unique the band has ever composed and presented. It is a song for the last farewell, which the singer and bassist Kuba Ryba wrote for himself.
Marcell, Fiedleski: Vanilla Heaven
The song of the Marcell and Fiedlerski tandem was created, like some others, in a house in a small Italian town between Venice and Verona. In it, Tandem confirms their talent for writing unflattering songs that have the gift of delicately getting under the listener’s skin, and also enchanting them with sound and interpretation.
Michal Prokop & Framus Five: Ostraka
Michal Prokop and his band Framus Five returned to great form and well-being this year. It is evident from the new album Ostraka, which was released in April. The title track is one of the strongest on it. An ostraka is a fragment of a clay vessel on which free citizens in ancient Athens wrote the name of the person they wanted to expel from the village for ten years. This former tool to protect democracy against tyranny has turned over time into something we know in today’s society as ostracism.
Mňága and Žďorp: Strange little fish
Album Burning? I’m on fire! The Wallachian Meziříč group Mňága and Žďorp also brought the single “Podivné rybičky”. It combines all the musical and sound aces of the band that have been drawn so far. Before the release of the collection, the new guitarist Kuba Červinka strengthened it.
