Cyprus Handball Team Bus Crash in Estonia | News & Updates

Due to the bad weather, the bus with 23 people on the way from Tallinn to Pelva, on Saturday at crashed on the Tallinn-Tartu highway near Neanurme at 4:45 am, Estonian police said.

After the accident, two representatives of the Cypriot delegation were taken to Tartu University Hospital for examination, while the others continued their journey to Pelva in another bus after about two hours.

According to the newspaper “Kathimerini”, as a precaution, medical examinations were later performed on eight more people.

The Estonian Handball Union maintains communication with the Cyprus team and the European Handball Federation.

The match between the national teams of Estonia and Cyprus is scheduled for Sunday evening, but the final decision on its course has not yet been made.

The national teams of Cyprus and Estonia meet in the pre-qualification round of the 2028 European Men’s Handball Championship.

The return match after the first meeting of the two teams in Nicosia on Wednesday, January 7, in which Estonia won with 31:27, is scheduled in Pelva.
