Cuba 2026 World Cup: 35-Man Preliminary Squad Revealed

Various specialized baseball pages on Facebook announced this Tuesday the list of 35 players that Cuba already has officially presented as pre-selection for the VI World Baseball Classic 2026a fundamental step in the process of forming the national team.

Although the original pre-list is of 50 players, this list of 35 represents the active group to date and has already been communicated to the players, mainly to facilitate visa procedures and international logistics, which confirms that the process is at an advanced stage.

The existence of an expanded pre-selection of 50 athletes means that another 15 players remain as reserves, ready to be called up in case any of those included are unable to participate in the tournament due to contractual reasons with their organisations, injuries, visa problems or any last-minute unforeseen event, the media reported Cuban Newspaper.

That’s right, this isn’t the final list yet, but an operational base on which the Cuban Baseball Federation will adapt the final roster as the tournament date approaches.

Among the most significant names are athletes with extensive experience internationally and in professional leagues, such as Alfredo DespaigneYoan Moncada, Andy PagesAndy Ibáñez, Alexei Ramírez, Liván Moínelo and Raidel Martínez, which reflects Cuba’s intention to combine experience with young talent and players active in foreign leagues.
