On XXV. Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo (February 6 – 22) Croatia will be represented by 14 athletes in four sports in the tenth jubilee performance under its own tricolor.
In alpine skiing, the most numerous sports delegation (with three women’s and three men’s quotas) are Croatian athletes: Zrinka Ljutić, Leona Popović i Pia Vučinić the Samuel Kolega, Istok Rodeš i Filip Zubcic. Representatives in the Nordic version of skiing are Tena Hadžić, Ema Sobol i Marko Skender (cross-country skiing), and Croatian colors will be defended by three biathletes – Matija Legović, Anika Kožica i Krešimir Crnković. Two representatives, Valentina Aščić i Katarina Burićsecured Olympic appearances in short-track speed skating.
More than 2,800 athletes from around 90 countries are expected to participate in the Games. They will compete in 16 sports, including the premiere edition of Ski Mountaineering and probably the last edition of Nordic combined. The opening ceremony of the Games will be held at the San Siro Olympic Stadium in Milan on February 6, and the closing ceremony – in Verona on February 22.
