Burned during the fire in Crans-Montana (Switzerland) on New Year’s Eve, Tahirys Dos Santos performed a heroic act that evening, according to his agent. The latter revealed this Saturday on BFMTV that the young footballer from FC Metz had returned to the burning bar to help his girlfriend.
“Tahirys was on the first floor of the bar at the time of the fire,” Christophe Hutteau told BFMTV. He managed to get out of the blaze and realized that his girlfriend was still inside. He went back to rescue her from the flames. In addition to being a victim, Tahirys is a hero, we can say that. »
The 19-year-old left-back is in intensive care at hospital in Stuttgart, Germany. He suffered second-degree burns covering 30% of his body.
“We have a big thought for Tahirys and his family”
Tahirys Dos Santos had his first call-up with the professional group during the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, on December 20 against Biesheim (Messina 3-0 victory). He did not come into play. Usually, he played with the reserve team, in National 3.
FC Metz coach Stéphane Le Mignan also paid tribute to him this Friday at a press conference, before the Ligue 1 match against Lorient (Sunday 5:15 p.m.).
“We have a big thought for Tahirys and his family,” greeted the coach. He is an exemplary player, he has great technical qualities with his left foot. Every time he comes with us to train, he’s up to it, he absorbs everything we say to him. »
