Corsican Climbers Achieve National First Ascent

Corsica left its mark on the national tatami mats. This weekend, in Verquin, during the French U18 ju-jitsu championships, the island delegation signed a major performance, confirming the dynamism and the growing level of the discipline on the island. Saturday morning, Jean-Jacques Béovardi, committed coach and driving force behind the sporting project, took the road north with two of his students: Sarah Béovardi, licensed at Alata Judo Club Trova, and Auge Lorely, representative of Ajaccio Judo. Objective stated: defend the Corsican colors against the French ju-jitsu elite.

This edition will go down in history for its innovative format. The organizers offered coaches a unique alternative: integrating an open French championship, bringing together women, men and mixed women in a single table. A demanding formula, designed to offer more fights and establish a general ranking revealing the real level of the competitors. In this challenging context, competition is tough. The open title ultimately went to a male duo, also crowned French male champion. But behind this victory, the Corsican performance takes on its full dimension. Sarah Béovardi and Auge Lorely took third place in the general open ranking, becoming the first women in the table. A position synonymous with the title of French champion in women’s duet.

“The merger with Ajaccio Judo was decisive in this success”
A sporting success which “commands respect”, as underlines Delphine Camuzet, president of Ajaccio Judo. “I am delighted with such a performance and proud of the result obtained for the club and for the ju-jitsu section. After two silver medals during the last edition, the girls will certainly write a new story in Duo System, a demanding discipline which imposes rigor, commitment and excellence. »

Same satisfaction on Alata’s side. For Laura Béovardi, president of Alata Judo Club Trova, this performance is far from being the result of chance: “I am happy with the excellent results obtained during this French championship. The merger with Ajaccio Judo was decisive in this success. It allows us to pool skills, structure work and push our students to the top. » Beyond the title, a whole dynamic is welcomed. “We are very confident for the future and we will continue on this path in order to advance our young people and support them towards the high level”insists the president of Alata.
