Six defeats in a row, the end of Kamil Pokorný. Comet did not have an easy time at the turn of the calendar year. But on Sunday, they beat Mlada Boleslav 3:2 after extra time at home, so they take five points from the last two games. The Slovakian stormtrooper Kristián Pospíšil is signed in bold below them.
Everyone knows that he is an excellent hockey player. He just has to want to. When he doesn’t have a day, you notice him on the ice rather in a negative sense. Well, he’s had a good day for the last few games. In five games, he scored 10 points (4+6) and beat Bruslař with a goal in overtime, and assisted on Kollár’s power-play shot in regular time.
Some expected him to be in the Slovakian nomination for the Olympics, but he is not there… And after Sunday’s match, he dug into the guts of “Ronda” for the implementation team. However, he would accept the additional call-up – his dream is to play in the national team jersey with his brother Martin.
It seems like you and the Zohorn brothers were a perfect fit. What is the secret of this attack?
The first thing that comes to mind is that we respect each other’s game. I think we complement each other very well, we are strong in fights, on the fore, which makes it easier for all of us. That’s why it works for us.
After six losses, you made five points over the weekend. Are you satisfied with it?
I wanted six! (smile) But I’m glad, I’m sure we all appreciate the five points as well. We know they don’t come together easily in this league. I think if we continue like this, we will collect points regularly.

Do you play more actively under Jiří Horáček than under Kamil Pokorný?
Some changes have been made, we want to put more pressure on the opponent’s backs. Typologically, we have the players to toughen up a bit. Something had to change in the system to start collecting those winnings. We want to go for it, but we know that the system we played and still play to some extent won us the title. We will strive to have a winning DNA.
It’s a point explosion from your side now, 4+6 in five games…
Sometimes I don’t even understand why the points are coming. I mean… I’ll even say it out loud. I think it’s some kind of karma for the fact that they didn’t take me to the rep. I have extra motivation to prove that I belong there.
Were you upset when you found out you weren’t nominated for the Olympics?
Well, I’m pretty upset mainly about the six losses because they were close. I still say that even in the games we lost, we had to pick up some points. Every single loss pissed me off. I tried to think about how to help the team more. I think we all did our best for the team to win.
And how did you react to the nomination?
I won’t say it was easy for me that night. It certainly annoyed me, I was sad, but life goes on. On the other hand, the Olympics haven’t started yet. I do everything to at least prove to myself that I belong there.
How is it with brother Martin? He still hasn’t started in Calgary.
I don’t want to say anything because every time I say something, it gets turned around. I don’t want to comment on it, but I believe that everything will turn out as it should.

The Olympics are a month away, someone can still drop out. Is there still a glimmer of hope for you?
As I said, I’m still trying, I’m motivated. But I don’t wish anything bad on anyone, I don’t want to go there because someone got hurt. I accepted that I was not going there. The guys from the national team are my friends and I don’t wish them any injuries.
Would you accept an additional nomination?
My dream is to play with my brother in the national team, so if he goes there, I certainly want to make our dream come true.
