Colts Owner Death: FBI Investigation

The suspicious death of Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is now in the hands of the FBI, which is investigating his suspected overdose.

According to the Washington Post, the intelligence agency would seek information on the 65-year-old man and his relationship with the Dr Harry Haroutunian, a rehabilitation specialist.

Irsay was found unconscious on his bathroom floor by police on December 8, 2024. The incident was described as an “overdose” and an “overdose-poisoning.” He died in his sleep on May 21, 2025.

The American media reports that the Dr Haroutunian had provided the billionaire with a prescription for painkillers and ketamine injections in the final months of his life. He was also the one who signed Irsay’s death certificate, attributing his death to cardiac arrest caused by acute pneumonia and other heart problems.

He has revealed in the past that he struggled with addiction and went through rehab on at least 15 occasions. According to the Posthe overdosed three times in the six years before his death.

In January, FBI agents interviewed Irsay’s relatives in Indianapolis. He had owned the team since the death of his father, Robert, in 1997. It was his three daughters who inherited the franchise.
