Cobolli Falls: Italy Eliminated from United Cup

Italy is out of the United Cupa mixed team tournament that inaugurated the tennis season. In the match that opened the challenge against France, already eliminated from the tournament, at the “Rac Arena” in Perth on the Italian night, our blue Davis player Flavio Cobolli missed two match points and then lost 7-5 in the third to Arthur RinderKnech (6-7, 7-6, 7-5 the final score, in 3 hours and 21 minutes of match).

To qualify as the best second in the Perth groups, the Azzurri – defeated on Sunday by Switzerland who finished first in the group – would have had to win 3-0 and lose a maximum of one set overall. Argentina will therefore enter the quarterfinals against the United States, the reigning champions.

Immediately after Italy’s elimination, Jasmine Paolini, WTA n.8, was on the court and defeated Leolia Jeanjean, WTA n.103 6-2 6-2, bringing the result of the match with France to 1-1.
