Club Brugge has made a decision about the sporting future of defender Zaïd Romero. The Argentine will get the chance for more playing time elsewhere.
Loan to Spain
The club officially announced that the defender is leaving temporarily. “Zaïd Romero is loaned to Getafe CF until the end of this season,” can be read on Club Brugge’s website.
Romero, who has been part of the core since 2024, will have the opportunity to show himself in a competition at a higher pace. The 26-year-old defender came over from Estudiantes and worked his way into the selection for Blue-Black.
His passage in Bruges mainly provided him with substitute appearances and rotation moments, which made a loan move logical. That is now heading towards La Liga.
Chance of more minutes
The move to Getafe should give Romero regularity again. Getafe is currently in the middle of the Spanish top flight and offers him an environment where he can compete against strong opponents.
For Bruges, the loan means that the core is slightly slimmed down, without disrupting the sporting balance. The club retains control over the player’s future while he gains experience elsewhere.
