Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry, partners since 2025, became European figure skating champions for the first time together on Saturday in Sheffield (United Kingdom). An auspicious triumph three weeks before the Olympic Games in Milan Cortina (February 6 to 22).
The French duo dominated the free dance on Saturday, like the rhythmic dance the day before, to obtain the gold medal with 222.43 points ahead of the Italians Marco Fabbri and Charlène Guignard (210.34 pts), three outgoing champions, and the British Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson (209.51 pts).
This is Cizeron’s sixth European title, counting the five previously won with his former teammate Gabriella Papadakis, with whom he was Olympic champion in 2022.
Accusations of toxic influence
This title comes as Guillaume Cizeron is the subject of accusations in a book published Thursday, in which Gabriella Papadakis denounced the toxic influence of her former partner. The skater denied the “false information” contained in the book.
The duo formed by Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron announced their retirement from sport in December 2024 after a career crowned with two Olympic medals, including a gold at the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, five world titles and five European titles.
