[신화망 베이징 1월10일] In China, sporting events are driving the growth of related industries.
According to data released by Li Xuhua, CEO of Beilong Zhongwang (Beijing) Tech, at the ’12th Annual Sports Money Conference’, 360,000 people (per year) visited the China National Tennis Center during the 2025 China Tennis Open, with ticket revenue totaling 88 million yuan (approximately 18.2 billion won) and licensed product sales. It was found that it reached more than 12.5 million yuan (2.5 billion won), leading to consumption of 200 million yuan (41.76759 billion won).
Innovative online game broadcasting models are also playing a major role in generating revenue. Ye Ju-ming, president of Douyin Group’s sports business, said, “Over the past two years, we have promoted paid linked broadcasting and game-specific payment models to meet users’ demand for followers for popular games,” and said that they plan to explore a ‘free live broadcast + e-commerce’ model in the future.
The ‘Sports+’ model, which is deeply integrated with various fields, is creating new consumption scenarios. Zhang Heng, chairman of Sanfu Outdoor, said that in the outdoor industry, sports consumption is changing from material purchases to spiritual experiences and lifestyle pursuits.
Wang Yuxiong (王裕雄), head of the Sports Economic Research Center at the Central University of Finance and Economics, predicted that through ‘Sports+’ and scenario convergence, the extensive social benefits brought by sporting events will be converted into commercial value that companies can obtain, and that amid this trend, more and more diverse market entities will come up with convergence products and services.
