Denis Popov was born in the hero city in 1979. He is a student of the FC Chernomorets sports school. At the age of 17, he made his debut with Chernomorets in the elite of Russian football on May 4, 1996 in Sochi in the 10th round match against the local Zhemchuzhina. Since then he has played in different teams, returning to the Novorossiysk football club several times.
Denis Popov’s finest hour was the 2000 season, when he scored 8 goals in 19 games in the top league of the Russian Championship as part of Chernomorets and scored another goal against his opponents in a cup match. In total he played 85 matches for Chernomorets, scored 33 goals. He played 5 games in the Russian national team.
In recent years, Denis Popov has coached football teams in various divisions.
