Chelsea Stun City: Title Race Twist?

This Sunday in the Premier League ended with a clash between Manchester City and Chelsea. A shock which led to a split, which is good for leader Arsenal.

For once, Arsenal supporters were certainly all behind their great London rival Chelsea in the clash between the Blues and Manchester City. Indeed, while Chelsea are left behind in the title race, any point lost by the Citizens is beneficial to the Gunners, leaders of the Premier League.

Manchester City opened the scoring in the first half via Tijjani Reinders (42nd, 1-0) and held on to this score… almost until the end of the match. Jérémy Doku started the match on the bench and only came on in the 70th minute, replacing scorer Reijnders.

Enzo Fernandez frustrates Manchester City

At the very end of the match, it was Chelsea, via Enzo Fernandez, who gave the Etihad Stadium a real cold shower by equalizing (90th+4, 1-1). A small disaster for Guardiola and his men who concede a second consecutive division.

Arsenal, for their part, did not tremble against Bournemouth, winning by a short header (2-3) and therefore now taking a 6-point lead at the top of the championship over Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Note that Chelsea played their first match without Enzo Maresca, dismissed from his duties during the week. It was interim Calum McFarlane who won this share, probably waiting for Liam Rosenior to replace him.
