Charleroi Sign Striker: Transfer News & Francs Borains Link

Charleroi is currently experiencing a fairly calm transfer window. But that doesn’t stop management from remaining on the lookout for good deals.

For now, the most notable operation of this month of January at Mambourg is the contract extension of Perfect Guiagon, announced amid the general euphoria of qualification for the Belgian Cup. One arrival is now complete, that of Slobodan Stanojlovic. He is a 24-year-old Serbian striker, active in the Beograd club. Last season, he was not a starter in the Serbian first division.

His career path is quite atypical since Stanojlovic already knows the Black Country…having signed for Olympic Charleroi last summer. But his work permit application was unsuccessful, he returned to Serbia after two months, not playing a single match for the Mastiffs.

No transfer to Olympic? Sporting has better luck

He therefore returns to the banks of the Sambre, but is only there in transit: the boy will be loaned until the end of the season to the Francs Borains, who benefit from an option for an additional season.

A transfer which recalls the destiny of another attacker, Mondy Prunier. He too was loaned to the Francs Borains immediately after his arrival in Charleroi. Still belonging to the Zèbres, he has not yet played a match for Sporting and has returned on loan…to the Francs Borains, after a disappointing first part of the season at Eupen.

Stanojlovic will acclimatize to Belgian football in D1B: “Slobodan is an offensive player who can play in several positions. He is intelligent in his movements and has good finishing quality. At 24, he will discover a new football and develop at Boussu. His arrival increases the competition and offers new possibilities to the staff”, describes the sporting director Laurent D’Affnay in the official press release.
