Champdeniers-Saint-Denis Archery: Record Turnout

The archery competition organized by the Archers de Gâtine club, for the third time in Champdeniers last weekend, saw a record attendance with 180 competitors.

Despite some last minute defections, no less than 180 archers competed this weekend of January 3 and 4 during the 18-meter shooting and para-shooting competition organized in the Val-d’Egray sport hall in Champdeniers, by the Gâtine de Mazières Archers club.

27 clubs were represented from Deux-Sèvres (eight), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (14) and other regions (five), including Fontenay-le-Comte and La Châtaigneraie.

The presence of 180 archers for a total of 227 starts (shots), the maximum of which is 240, a record attendance, places our competition in the top 5 of 18 meter shooting competitions in the entire Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. rejoice the organizers.

Flattering results

On a local sporting level, the results are rather flattering for the competitors of the Archers de Gâtine club: Dimitri Mames, in U21 recurve, and Serena Dolci, in U18 recurve, validate their participation in the French Championship in Moulins (Allier) from February 20 to 22. They should be accompanied by the young Baptiste Gautier in the U15 recurve category, who will still have to score to validate his first participation in a France. Previously, these young local archers will loudly defend the colors of the Archers de Gâtine club during the regional championship which will take place in Marans on January 31 and 1is February, where they will be accompanied by young Térence Deboeuf in U15 recurve and Emy Deuré in U21 recurve. All these little people will be present at the departmental championship on January 17 and 18 organized in Saint-Maixent-l’École by the Asius Archers club from Azay-le-Brûlé.

Unlike Jérôme Souchaud, the French No. 1 who achieved his minimums, the young Léo Defevre, in U21, from the Smarves club, who was also aiming to qualify for the French team for the European Championship in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) from February 16 to 21, only achieved 556 points (the minimum set by the federation being 581), a result well below his expectations.
