Cearense Referees Conference: Barred Question & 3-Minute Debate

The referee press conference at Maracanã 0x1 Ferroviário, a game that marked the debut of the Cearense Championship, lasted three minutes and was marked by an issue blocked by the organization of the tournament (watch below). The event, which was part of an unprecedented initiative in Brazilian football, was broadcast on the FCF (Cearense Football Federation) YouTube

What happened

Joanilson Scarcella, who acted as 4th referee of the match in question, appeared to be interviewed by local journalists. He served as an assistant to judge Rejane Caetano and linesmen Nailton Oliveira and Beatriz Ferreira.

The first question, asked almost three minutes into the video, addressed the analysis of the whistle in Ferroviário’s victory. “It was great, there were no controversial moves. Everything was agreed on the field, and the players helped. We measure it by the end of the match: the teams went to greet the referee”, he said.
