It has already been announced that the “Canucks” lost 1:4 (0:1, 1:2, 0:1) to the Columbus “Blue Jackets” represented by the Latvian goalkeeper Elvjas Merzlikina, experiencing their ninth loss in a row.
“We have to be better,” Foote said after the loss. “We can’t wait for Monday, when Blüger will be back, or next week, when he could return [Filips] Hithil.”
Due to injuries, Blügers has played only two games this season, the last time he played in mid-October. He has one goal in two matches.
The 31-year-old Bļugers has been included in the Latvian national team for participation in this year’s Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympic hockey tournament.
The “Canucks” will host the Edmonton “Oilers” hockey players on their field early Sunday morning Latvian time, and will meet the New York “Islanders” team on Tuesday morning.
With 37 points in 47 games, the Canucks are last, 16th in the Western Conference and in the entire league.
