The hockey players of Tampa Bay won the night game of the overseas NHL on the ice of Philadelphia by a high score of 7:2 and stretched the series of triumphs to nine duels.
Slovak defenseman Erik Černák did not register in the Canadian scoring, but he spent almost 19 minutes on the ice and scored two points.
The three-game winning streak was not extended by Montreal with Juraj Slafkovský, who lost at home to Detorito 0:4.
Incredible string of Tampa
Tampa has not tasted the bitterness of defeat since December 19, and it is its longest winning streak since the 2019/20 season, when it won eleven matches in a row.
Lightning leader Nikita Kučerov scored two goals and assisted on two others, while his personal point streak also lasts nine duels and collected nine accurate hits and 14 assists during it.
“It doesn’t surprise me, but I’m just amazed. He does it every year, he’s our best player. It’s not just about talent, but he works hard,” Kučerov’s offensive lineman Brayden Point told nhl.com.
Kučerov recorded his 36th four-point game, among active players only Connor McDavid (45) and Sidney Crosby (43) have more. In addition to two plus points, Černak recorded two points and blocked two shots.
Slafkovský without a shot
The Canadiens won 27-24 in shots on goal, but couldn’t get one behind John Gibson, who posted his third shutout of the season, 27th of his career and led the Red Wings to their third straight win.
Detroit thus jumped Montreal and Tampa and is second in the Eastern Conference. Slafkovský spent 17:34 minutes on the ice, recorded two negative points, did not send a single shot on goal and gave away three points.
A goal and two assists were scored by Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp had a 1+1 balance. Montreal captain Nick Suzuki started his 500th game and became the sixth player in NHL history to reach this goal without missing a game since the beginning of his career.
Before him, Doug Jarvis (964), Andrew Cogliano (830), Andy Hebenton (630), Billy Harris (576) and Murray Murdoch (508) did it.
Dvorský with high success in throw-ins
Even Dalibor Dvorský, his St. Louis lost to Vegas 2:4 and extended the streak of failures to three meetings. The Slovak striker played 12:21 minutes, gave away one hit and had 86% success rate on throw-ins.
The Golden Knights won their third game in a row, while the Blues lost their third game in a row. St. Louis also lost defender Philip Broberg, who was injured in the second minute after being bumped by Mark Stone.
The Swedish defender signed a new six-year contract worth a total of $48 million before the game with the Blues.
“It’s sad to lose Broberg. The whole team was excited when his contract extension was announced and then he got injured early on and we had to play with five defenders.
Fortunately, it shouldn’t be anything serious, he’s fine and we’ll take it on a day-to-day basis,” Blues coach Jim Montgomery said. Stone scored in his seventh straight game for Vegas.
Calgary still without Pospíšil and Honzek
Pittsburgh lost just 1-2 at home to Calgary, snapping a six-game winning streak. The Flames, who are still missing the injured Slovaks Martin Pospíšil and Samuel Honzek, triumphed after four losses.
The best team of the season, the Colorado Avalanche, defeated Columbus 4-0 and already has a twelve-point lead over Dallas at the top of the Western Conference.
Trent Miner caught 29 shots and enjoyed his first win and first shutout in his fifth game in the NHL. Two goals were scored by Brent Burns, who at 40 years and 307 days became the fourth oldest defenseman with a multi-goal game. Only Tim Horton (41 years, 277 days), Zdeno Chára (41 years, 221 days) and Nicklas Lidström (41 years, 191 days) were older than him.
Regenda active in shooting
The Stars lost 4-5 in overtime Sunday night in San Jose. Pavol Regenda played 14:04 minutes in the Sharks jersey and added one negative point, three shots on goal and three points to his statistics.
The Slovak forward started again in the second formation with Tyler Toffoli and Alexander Wennberg and although he did not score, he was seen on the ice.
In the second period, he won a power play for the Sharks when he was tripped by Colin Blackwell and Jeff Skinner tied the score at 2:2 with a numerical advantage.
Regenda was also on the ice for this goal. Dallas then led by two goals again when Mikko Rantanen made it 4-2, but Toffoli and Adam Gaudette sent the duel into extra time and Toffoli decided it with his second goal of the game.

Thirtieth goal of the season for McDavid

Oilers captain Connor McDavid tied the game at 3-3 in the third period with his 30th goal of the season and his 18th straight game to set a personal best. In the number of points, he reached the productivity leader MacKinnon from Colorado, both have 78 points.
Boston confirmed its improving form when it outclassed the New York Rangers 10:2 in Saturday’s duel. Czech forward David Pastrňák excelled in the match, contributing to the great victory with six assists.
Marat Chusnutdinov scored four goals and added an assist, Pavel Zacha scored a hat trick. The last time two Boston players scored hat tricks in the same game was in 1964, and it was the first time it had happened on home ice.
Zacha and Chusnutdinov scored their first hat-tricks in their careers, the last time two teammates did it in one meeting was on December 11, 2008, when Pittsburgh players Pascal Dupuis and Petr Sýkora enjoyed their first hat-tricks.
Pastrnak became the third Bruins player with six assists in a game, joined by Bobby Orr (January 1, 1973) and Ken Hodge (February 9, 1971).
Pastrňák became the first Czech in history to record six assists in one game and reached the goal of 888 points in total.
The Bruins won their fourth of their last five games and are just one point behind the second wild card in the Eastern Conference. Rangers suffered their third loss in a row and are five points off the top of the table.
