CAN: Shocking Miss – Empty Net Fail!

This final of the 35th edition of the CAN will forever remain in the annals. Just like the duel between Yassine Bounou and Chérif Ndiaye.

A marvel of near-goal in the CAN final

We are struggling to regain our senses, as the scenario of this CAN final comes straight from a galaxy still unknown to this day. There’s no point trying to explain it, or opt for rational reasoning. We would definitely break our teeth. A messed up panenka later, Senegalese and Moroccans compete for overtime. Pape Gueye finally opened the scoring for Senegal, coming from nowhere.

Then in the 110th minute, Chérif Ndiaye had the opportunity to score the break goal. His first attempt is stopped by Bounou, but the ball comes back to him. From then on, the Senegalese striker is alone in front of the empty goal, and only has to push the ball into the back of the net. But Bounou relaxes at full length to push the ball just enough for Ndiaye to miss the target. Chérif can’t believe his eyes and neither can we.
