CAN 2025: Superstars in Quarter-Finals – Hakimi, Salah & More

The posters couldn’t be more enticing. With eight of the ten highest ranked African teams in the FIFA rankings qualified (only Tunisia and the Democratic Republic of Congo are missing), the CAN quarter-finals promise a total spectacle. Above all, they will be supported by the presence of the five superstars of African football, who alone are a fabulous reason to watch the matches and to be passionate about this African Cup.

From Salah to Hakimi via Osimhen, Mané and Mahrez, and despite varying states of form, they will have a crucial role to play on Friday and Saturday. Brahim Thiam, former Malian international and consultant for BeIN Sports, official broadcaster of the competition, explains the strengths of each.
