Despite their 4-0 victory and their brilliant qualification for the quarter-finals of CAN 2025, Nigeria does not really have peace of mind.
This Tuesday, the Nigerian federation denied rumors, in particular that of Victor Osimhen’s departure from the selection, after the disagreement between the latter and his teammate Ademola Lookman.
The Nigerian media Arise News notably claimed that the Galatasaray player “would have renounced his accreditation and threatened to permanently leave the Nigerian team participating in the CAN”.
“The Nigeria Super Eagles camp has denied insinuations and dark rumors of a dispute within the team following Monday night’s 4-0 victory over the Mozambique Mambas,” the federation wrote in a statement.
“A crisis between two brothers” resolved “a few hours later”
“There is no problem in our camp. What people thought was a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved a few hours later. Everything is fine and we are currently in training,” says team administrator Dayo Enebi Achor.
“The 26 players available (young defender Ryan Alebiosu continues his convalescence) participated in Tuesday evening’s session at the Sardienne complex,” specifies the press release.
Three times African champions, the Super Eagles have a meeting on Saturday at 5 p.m. with Algeria in Marrakech, for a quarter-final which already promises to be crazy.
