Slovak hockey defenseman Michal Čajkovský prematurely ended his career in the Swiss club HC Ambri-Piotta, with which he signed a contract until the end of the season in November.
For personal reasons, he first claimed that he wanted to return to Slovakia, but in the end he is returning to the Russian KHL, where he will wear the jersey of the Traktor Chelyabinsk club.
“The player expressed his desire to return to Slovakia for personal reasons and the club granted his request,” the Ambri-Piotta club said on its website.
The 33-year-old defender played only six league matches in Switzerland, in December he helped Friborg win the Spengler Cup.
In the past nine years, he played a total of 444 games in the KHL in the jerseys of Avtomobilista Yekaterinburg, Dinamo Moscow, Sibiru Novosibirsk and Spartak Moscow. In them, he scored 64 goals and added 130 assists.
He spent the previous two seasons in Spartak Moscow. In the past, he also worked in lower overseas competitions and in Sparta Prague.
“During the season, Traktor needed one more defenseman who would bring more emphasis to the defense and, no less important, is adapted to the style of play in the KHL.
