FC Augsburg – SC Freiburg 2:2 (0:0)
FC Augsburg lost its initial lead on matchday 18 of the Bundesliga against SC Freiburg in the WWK Arena in Augsburg in front of 29,160 spectators and drew 2-2 (0-0).
The first half initially went without goals. Alexis Claude-Maurice scored the first goal for Augsburg right at the start of the second half. Elvis Rexhbecaj increased shortly afterwards in the 49th minute. But Freiburg caught up. Yuito Suzuki scored the first goal in the 60th minute and Igor Matanović scored the equalizer just two minutes later.
“I think it annoys not only me, but also the team,” said Niklas Beste from SC Freiburg on DAZN about the result. “But you shouldn’t forget that we quickly found ourselves 2-0 behind after half-time,” he continued. The Augsburg team remain winless in their fifth Bundesliga game and are in 15th place in the table. SC Freiburg is in eighth place with 24 points.
VfB Stuttgart – 1. FC Union Berlin 1:1 (1:0)
Also that one VfB Stuttgart and 1. FC Union Berlin drew 1-1 (1-0) in front of 59,500 spectators at the MHPArena in Stuttgart. Union initially found its way into the game better. VfB hardly had any chances to score, but despite opportunities for the Union, the first half was goalless. Andrej Ilić shot past Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nübel in the 14th minute – but only hit the right outside post. Chris Führich gave Stuttgart the lead in the 59th minute. Woo-yeong Jeong equalized in the 83rd minute. Nübel parried another chance from Jeong shortly before the end of the game (88th).
The cup winners therefore missed the jump to third place in the table and remain in fourth place. Union remained unbeaten in the fifth league game in a row, but at the same time played a draw for the third time in a row. The Köpenickers are in ninth place in the table.
