Bulls Beat Celtics, Rose’s Jersey Retired – Morning Call

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Kevin Huerter hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer, leading the Chicago Bulls past the Boston Celtics 114-111 on Saturday night before retiring Derrick Rose’s jersey number.

Coby White scored 22 points and made five of Chicago’s 21 3-pointers, helping the Bulls win their fourth straight game.

Rose joined a select group after the game when the Bulls raised his number one to the ceiling, placing the Chicago native alongside Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Jerry Sloan and Bob Love as the only players with numbers retired by the team.

The Bulls gave their home crowd plenty to cheer about before honoring the South Side native and former MVP by pulling out a win over the second-place team in the Eastern Conference, despite Jaylen Brown scoring 33 for Boston.

Nikola Vucevic scored 16 for Chicago, and Smith and Matas Buzelis added 14 points each.

Anfernee Simmons finished with 21 points for Boston. Derrick White added 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
