If Alexander Bublik wins against Lorenzo Musetti in the final of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Hong Kong tomorrow, the Kazakh would be among the ten best players in the world for the first time.

With Alexander Bublik, one could get the impression over large phases of his career that the show (and it’s a good one!) is more important than the results. That changed last season. And how, Bublik won four tournaments (in HalleWestphalia, Gstaad, Kitzbühel and Hangzhou) and was even allowed to travel to the ATP Finals in Turin as a substitute.
And now Alexander Bublik is just one win away from moving into the top ten of the ATP charts for the first time. The 28-year-old with Russian roots would only have to win against Lorenzo Musetti in Hong Kong – and would then overtake Jack Draper. The unfortunate Brit had to cancel his comeback in Australia again.
Bublik with eight titles, Musetti with two
But be careful: Musetti is currently riding the wave of success himself. The Italian replaced Novak Djokovic late as the last participant in the ATP Finals; with his semi-final success against Andrey Rublev in Hong Kong, Musetti secured a top-five ranking. He’s never been this high.
The head-to-head between the two is interesting: out of three games, only one could be finished – in 2024 in Adelaide, Bublik narrowly prevailed in three sets. A few months later in Stuttgart, Bublik had to give up, just like Musetti in London’s Queen’s Club in 2022.
When it comes to titles, Alexander Bublik is clearly ahead with his eight championships. Because Lorenzo Musetti has only been able to win tournaments on the ATP tour twice so far: in Hamburg and Naples, both in 2022.
