Rayane Bounida is one of the young Belgians at Ajax. The dribbler made his breakthrough this season and talks about his year and breakthrough in Amsterdam in a video on the club channels.
Bounida moved from RSC Anderlecht’s youth team to Ajax in a transfer that caused quite a stir, especially in Brussels. He was known as the top talent at Neerpede.
At Ajax, Bounida first mainly played for Jong Ajax, but this season he broke through with the first team, where he was often one of the bright spots. So things are going well for the technically skilled player, who says he learned to have “patience”.
You have to show that you deserve it
“You have to give your body time and not want to do something that you cannot yet do yourself. In the beginning I was a little less patient, but I have learned it over the years. Now I am patient,” says Bounida in a video on the club channels, quoted by Ajax Showtime.
“You just have to show that you deserve it,” Bounida continued. “I’ve always learned: if you have to take a step back, you have to be the best there.”
“It was special when I first saw it,” he says about his permanent place in the dressing room of the first team. “I remember when I got my tour of the ArenA. Then I saw everything and I thought: yes, this is going to be it. I am satisfied.”
