O transfer ban is disturbing the Botafogo in the market for hires? According to the journalist Jorge Nicolaon its YouTube channel, the club lost a possible reinforcement due to the internal situation. He recounted a conversation he had with a businessman.
– I don’t know if it was John Textorbut someone from Botafogo leaked that in the next few days Botafogo will have a contribution of US$50 million and that this contribution will help Botafogo in resolving the problem. Earlier today (Tuesday) I was talking to a businessman, who had an athlete who negotiates with Botafogo. And this businessman even heard the following expression from the Botafogo director: “we want to count on this player, but we are not sure that we will solve the problem with Atlanta United. We have US$ 10 billion, but Atlanta United did not accept it, they want the money in cash or at most in two installments”. So, words from a Botafogo manager to my source, “if your reinforcement, if your athlete is signed and we are unable to resolve the transfer ban, we will keep that athlete at the current club”. That was more or less the dialogue. And then this person said “I’m not going to take my player to Botafogo. I’m not going, at the risk of not being able to sign up” – said Jorge Nicola.
The journalist was reticent about the information that Botafogo will receive a contribution and resolve the transfer ban by paying off the debt with Atlanta United for Thiago Almada.
– Textor leaked this story about the US$50 million contribution and an advanced stage negotiation with Atlanta United, but Textor himself had told me that the transfer ban would not be a problem. He assured me at the turn of the year, after sending me a message, that things with Atlanta were all resolved. We are on January 13th and those who contacted Atlanta United said that nothing had been resolved, that negotiations were very difficult – said Nicola.
