Bodö/Glimt Beat Man City: Champions League Shock

Manchester City had probably counted on three easy points against Bodö/Glimt.

The outcome was something completely different.

The Norwegian club sensationally won 3-1 – and claimed their first Champions League victory in the club’s history.

– To come from where they started seven or eight years ago. So an association with approximately the same turnover and conditions as Gif Sundsvall, to this… It is without historical precedent, at least this millennium, says Viaplay’s expert Erik Niva.

Two goals in two minutes

Only 120 seconds passed between the first and second goal. Dane Kasper Högh appeared in the right place on both occasions, but after that it took time before there were any further goals.

But when it happened, it was once again Bodö/Glimt who did it.

Jens Petter Hauge, with a past in Frankfurt and Milan, struck with a dream goal to make it 3-0 after just under an hour. Soon after, however, City would finally get a hole in the home team, and reduce.

Soon after, though, the nightmare night would continue for the Premier League runners-up, as Rodri picked up his second yellow and was sent off.

A sending off that saw City’s chances disappear, and the game ended 3–1.
