At the Buffalo Bills’ end-of-year press conference, owner Terry Pegula slammed the table. He criticized not only the fired Sean McDermott, but also an active player.
After the Buffalo Bills’ disappointing playoff exit against the Denver Broncos, team owner Terry Pegula announced tough decisions and addressed controversial topics in the season-ending press conference.
Pegula justified Sean McDermott’s dismissal with the result of the game at the Broncos: “I know we can do better.”
He emphasized that the decision was not based on controversial refereeing decisions, but rather that the team had run into a “playoff wall.” Nevertheless, he criticized the NFL referees’ calls as “clearly wrong” and cited them as the reason for the defeat.
McDermott had a record of 98-50, eight playoff appearances and five AFC East titles in nine years, but a Super Bowl appearance failed to materialize.
Buffalo Bills: Kritik an Keon Coleman
Pegula’s statements about Keon Coleman, who disappointed in his second season, became particularly controversial.
The coaches pushed “strongly” for the wide receiver, who ultimately went to the Bills as the 33rd pick of the 2024 draft. He and general manager Brandon Beane then agreed.
Coleman has 67 catches for 960 yards and eight touchdowns in 26 games for the Bills.
