This is what ESPN reporter Adam Schefter learned Monday morning.

By 2025, the 51-year-old was leading the Bills for a ninth season. His team maintained a 12-5 record and took second place in the American East section standings.

The Buffalo club defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the playoffs, before being beaten 33-30 in overtime by the Denver Broncos in the next round.

The Bills have made the postseason eight times in nine seasons under McDermott. The latter also maintained a 98-50 record in the regular season and an 8-8 record in the playoffs.

In addition, the CBS network has learned that general manager Brandon Beane will keep his job in Buffalo.

McDermott is number 10e head coach to lose his job this season in the NFL. Mike McDaniel (Miami Dolphins), John Harbaugh (Baltimore Ravens), Kevin Stefanski (Cleveland Browns), Brian Callahan (Tennessee Titans), Pete Carroll (Las Vegas Raiders), Jonathan Gannon (Arizona Cardinals), Raheem Morris (Atlanta Falcons) and Brian Daboll (New York Giants) were all fired, while Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh Steelers) resigned.

Of these, two have already found a new job. Harbaugh and Stefanski became the head coaches of the Giants and Falcons, respectively.

Also according to Schefter, McDermott has indicated to his staff that he intends to continue coaching. He could very well emerge as a candidate for a head coaching position on some teams where the position is vacant.
