Results – shortened men’s 15 km endurance race:
French biathlete Eric Perrot triumphed in Thursday’s World Cup race in Novi Mesto in Moravia.
In the shortened 15 km endurance race, he beat his compatriot Emilien Jacquelin by 41.8 seconds, third was Lukas Hofer from Italy (+54.1).
Of the trio of Slovaks Jakub Borguľa, Šimon Adamov and Artur Ischakov, Borguľa finished best in 39th place and thus earned two points.
Both Perrot and Jacquelin had all four shooting events without a mistake, and the third Hofer also shot flawlessly. However, Perrot dominated running. The twenty-four-year-old world champion reduced the lead over leader Tomasso Giacomelo in the overall rating of the prestigious series to 23 points.
Borguľa had an excellent start to the race, and he had a major hesitation only in the last shooting event, when he missed two targets. If not for this loss, he could have surpassed his best result so far this season, which was 31st place from the sprint in Oberhof, Germany.
There was already enough fatigue
“So I’m sorry, I thought it would be really good, but I was disappointed again by the stand on the last shooting and it’s useless. There was already enough fatigue.
I did a lot of preparation for that item, I stood there longer and they were such stupid mistakes, I could have avoided them,” Borguľa evaluated for TASR.
Ischakov missed twice on the first prone shooting, and although he didn’t miss even once on the next stand, he had one mistake each on the remaining two shooting events.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. The shooting ruined my race again. Overall, I haven’t had that steady lay for two seasons. I put all those shots down, clicked my sights on the second lay, but I still missed one target.
We still need to work on it,” said Ischakov, who, with his 63rd place, improved his best in the WC by two places from the classic endurance race last year in Ruhpolding.
Adam’s last individual start before the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo didn’t work out at all, he missed seven times and finished in 88th position.
I was disappointed after the first shot
“This year the endurance race went well for me and that’s why I was disappointed after the first shoot, when I left with a second. The second one wasn’t happy either. The third shoot was the only one I managed to watch today.
And on the fourth, I really don’t know what I was doing. Three mistakes and a total of seven, that’s an awful lot and nothing can be done about it,” Adamov told TASR.
The event in the Czech center is the last one before the Olympic Games in Italy, the women’s endurance races, mixed relays and races with a mass start are still on the program from Friday to Sunday.
