The volunteers of the social promotion association Oltre l’Orizzonte, last Friday 2 January, donated a check for the sum of 3450.42 euros to the Santobono Pausilipon Foundation, intended to support the pediatric neurosurgery department together with a plaque in memory of Francesco Pio Angelico. The child, who is no longer with us today due to a rare and aggressive brain tumor, was treated by the Pediatric Neurosurgery department of the Santobono-Pausilipon Hospital.
The meeting took place inside the Ravaschieri pavilion of the Neapolitan hospital in the presence of doctor Lucia Quaglietta who had treated Francesco Pio and who remembered the little boy and his family with extreme emotion.
“Our desire was to keep the memory of Francesco Pio alive by transforming his name into a gesture of love for other children. This is the spirit with which this initiative and this project was born: emotion, satisfaction and a lot of gratitude are the predominant feelings at this moment. Our strength as a voluntary association lies in the people who listen to us in the squares and theaters, understand and choose to collaborate. But it doesn’t end here, we are already working on a new project with Santobono“he declared Valeria Feolavice president of Oltre l’Orizzonte APS.
Furthermore, during the day the Befana, together with two elves, distributed socks, sweets and toys to all the children in the Pavilion and to part of the hospital’s emergency room.
From the recovery and support of minors to initiatives in retirement homes, from solidarity projects in Gaza to animation and support for hospital pediatric departments, these are the activities of Beyond the APS Horizona social promotion association founded in September 2025, the result of a long journey shared by a group of volunteers united by years of experience and passion in the world of volunteering.
The association, which last month began a collaboration with La Brigata Solidale as part of a project for the homeless, concentrates its activity mainly in Campania, Lazio and Lombardy and is always looking for volunteers.
