Endearing. This was the gala presentation of the EL CORREO Sports Awards 2025, which included the BBK, the Provincial Council and the … Bilbao City Council as sponsors. In a packed BBK room and with journalist Patxi Herranz as master of ceremonies, up to 19 Biscayan clubs and representatives collected the award for their efforts made last year or for their careers under the watchful eye of well-known faces from the social and institutional sphere of the territory.
The event started with the award to Joxean Fernández Matxin, director of the UAE cycling team, which broke the record for victories last season. The one from Basauri could not attend and it was his father, Antonio Fernández, who was in charge of picking him up. The representatives of the new generation of Biscayan athletics, Aitana Rodrigo and Markel Fernández, took the stage next after demonstrating that they continue to make their way on the national scene.
