Lucas Bergvall, 19, tripped.
He was forced to leave Tottenham’s losing game against Bournemouth.
Bergvall chased the ball and ended up lying on the field after tripping. He was examined by Tottenham’s medical staff but could not play on.
Bergvall buried his head in his shirt when he walked off the field ten minutes into the second half. The Swede was also replaced injured against Crystal Palace on 28 December.
After the match, Tottenham coach Thomas Frank had no clear injury statement to give.
– My first thought is probably that it wasn’t that good, says Frank according to Football London.
Overtime loss
When Bergvall was replaced, Bournemouth led the match 2–1 and the home team won 3–2. João Palhinha equalized at 2-2 with a bicycle kick, but Antoine Semenyo decided with a long-range shot in the fifth minute of extra time.
It was probably Semenyo’s last goal for Bournemouth as he is on his way to Manchester City.
– I don’t want to lose him but I think it was his last moment with us, says coach Andoni Iraola to Sky Sports.
“Wanted to win”
João Palhinha describes the end of the match as a punch in the stomach.
– During the match, I felt that we were the best team on the pitch. We created more chances and were the only team that really wanted to win, says the Portuguese to Sky Sports.
Tottenham and Bournemouth are next to each other in the Premier League table, in 14th and 15th place.
