A month after leaving American DC United, Christian Benteke has signed for Al Wahda, a team from the United Arab Emirates. The (ex-)Red Devil has been working outside Europe since 2022.

After the expiration of his contract with MLS club DC United, there were rumors left and right that Christian Benteke would return to the Jupiler Pro League after more than 13 years. So that doesn’t happen.

The 35-year-old striker signed a contract with Al-Wahda. That is the current number two in the national competition in the United Arab Emirates.

Benteke waved goodbye to KRC Genk in 2012 before playing in the Premier League for Aston Villa, Liverpool and Crystal Palace. In 2022 he left for the US, where he played three seasons.

Benteke has not been called up for the Red Devils since March 2022. At Al-Wahda he becomes a teammate of Dusan Tadic (ex-Ajax), among others.
