Ben Seghir Injury: Ankle Sprain Rules Him Out

Bayer Leverkusen announced on Tuesday that attacking midfielder Eliesse Ben Seghir has sprained an ankle and will be sidelined for several weeks.

The Morocco international was injured just before the Africa Cup of Nations final, which Morocco lost 0-1 after extra time to Senegal on 18 January.

Ben Seghir, 20, has made 12 appearances since joining from Monaco in August 2025, starting only four times.

In the Champions League he featured in the first four league-phase matches, including the 2-7 defeat by PSG on 21 October.

He will therefore miss Wednesday’s final league-phase game against Villarreal at 21:00, a decisive fixture for the German club’s play-off bid. Bayer are 20th on 9 points, sitting between OM and Monaco in the standings.
