Beltran & Jones Elected to Baseball Hall of Fame

Carlos Beltran and Andrew Jones are headed to Cooperstown.

On the 21st (Korean time), the US Baseball Hall of Fame announced the voting results of the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) through “MLB Network”, and the finalists were confirmed with more than 75% of the vote.

Beltran received a total of 358 votes, with a vote rate of 84.2%, and Jones received 333 votes, with a vote rate of 78.4%.

Choo Shin-soo, the first Korean to be shortlisted for the Hall of Fame, received 3 votes. With a vote rate of 0.7%, he failed to exceed 5% and was disqualified as a candidate.

Being nominated as a candidate should in itself be given meaning. Among the 1-year candidates, except for Cole Hamels who received 101 votes (23.8%), none of the other 11 candidates exceeded 5%. Among them, Gonzalez, Kendrick, and Murphy failed to receive a single vote.
