Belarus Futsal Euro 2024: Chernik on Defeat

Head coach of the Belarus futsal team Alexander Chernik summed up the results of the opening match at the European Championship.

In the first game at the Euro, our compatriots lost to the Belgian national team – 0:4.

– Of course, we lost with a big score. We made a lot of individual mistakes that were unusual for our team. Today we didn’t look like ourselves. Although, again, we created a lot of chances near the opponent’s goal. If we had realized one chance, perhaps there would have been an emotional uplift. Perhaps it was the excitement of starting at such a tournament that affected us; we were a little constrained. Frankly speaking, nothing worked at all in the final part; there was no last shot or pass. We must pay tribute to the opponent, they covered the blows, fought, and fought. We didn’t have enough emotion or charge to make our eyes sparkle. Let’s talk and analyze. Of course, it’s a shame and unpleasant to start with a defeat.

— How satisfied are you with the combinations you chose for this meeting? Or should we expect changes for the match against the Spanish national team?

– If we lost, it’s clear that somewhere we are unhappy. More experienced players allowed their opponents a lot, allowing themselves to be beaten one-on-one. This is unusual for them, these are our defense leaders, we count on them. In the attacking part, when we played with five of us, ridiculous shots allowed the opponent to score goals. With set pieces and positional defense, the Belgian attack was not allowed anything. But throwing the ball, one-on-one situations, and playing on the flanks led to missed goals. The key moments are the first two goals. Perhaps we’ll try other combinations while we breathe out. Now there is no need to swear or bring in any negativity. Even in a group, everything can turn in the other direction. Therefore, we look at the results of our future rivals,” said Chernik.

Next match wards Alexandra Blueberry will be held on January 26 at 19:30.

Opponent – national team Spain.

Let us remind you that the championship Europe runs from January 21 to February 7 in Latvia, Lithuania And Slovenia. Our national team will play its matches in the capital Slovenia Loving.
