Bedard Returns: Blackhawks Get Boost

Connor Bedard is back from his injury layoff. The center makes a comeback when the Chicago Blackhawks meet the Washington Capitals at the United Center on the night of Saturday Swedish time.

– I feel well. It’s not much fun waiting and not being able to play, of course, so it’s exciting, Bedard said on Friday.

Bedard, 20, has missed the last 12 games after being injured on a last-second draw against St. Louis Blues December 12.

– It sucks. Nobody wants anything to happen, but it’s part of the game and you just have to try to take the time to get better, Bedard said.

Even though Bedard has been out for so long, he still leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 44 points in 31 games. Before getting injured, he scored eleven points in his last seven games. He hopes to come back and start a similar streak now.

Without Bedard, Chicago went 1-6-1 in its first eight games, but has since rebounded to win four straight.

– It has been good. “Since the Christmas break, a lot of overtime, and the last four games have ended with a win, so it’s fun,” Bedard said.
