BEEK AND DONK – On January 11, it was exactly 65 years ago that Badminton Club Mixed was founded. No major festive activities will be organized in this lustrum year, but the senior camp will return. This was first organized five years ago. However, there is a lot on the agenda in the near future. And of course there is also badminton.

The second half of the season has arrived in the competition, both for youth and seniors. With a total of 16 teams in the competition, BC Mixed is one of the largest associations of the Helmond Badminton Association (HBB). The training hours for the youth are full. The increase from the youngest youth in particular has been large in recent years. Children can go to the Minis from the age of 4. That is a very nice way to get to know the sport and to progress to youth training. Three teams are at the top among the seniors. So perhaps that will produce one or more champions in this anniversary year. However, the season is still long.

The next major badminton event is the BC Mixed Open Youth Tournament on Sunday, March 15. In the d’n Ekker sports hall, approximately 100 youth players from all over the region play against each other in various classes. In addition to badminton, BC Mixed organizes a lot for youth and seniors. The youth camp is scheduled again in June this year. The youth committee is busy preparing for this 3-day camp weekend. The theme will be announced soon and it promises to be another wonderful camp. For adults, a volunteer evening, party evening and Mixed Grill (barbecue) are organized. But because of the 65th anniversary, the Senior Camp is also planned in November this year. This is organized once every five years when the association celebrates a lustrum or jubilee year.

Sportsmanship and fun go hand in hand at BC Mixed. That credo is of paramount importance, even in the year that the club has existed for 65 years. For more information about the club, visit bcmixed.nl and follow the association on Instagram and Facebook.
