Bayern Munich won 2-1 at PSV Eindhoven at the end of the Champions League league phase. The Munich team’s outfit caused surprises: black jersey, black socks, very classic. But also extremely colorful red pants. With white Adidas stripes.
The German league leaders’ Champions League jerseys actually also feature black shorts and light or black socks. During the guest appearance in the Netherlands, Harry Kane and Co. had to wear goalie pants. The club itself confirmed this after the game.
Because of UEFA rules: Bayern play in goalie pants
The problem lies in the jerseys of the home team from the Netherlands. PSV traditionally plays with red and white striped jerseys and black pants. However, the away team’s uniforms must be significantly different; overlaps are not permitted according to UEFA regulations. So Bayern played in the black Champions League jerseys and resorted to the red goalie pants.
In any case, Germany’s champion stated that he had never worn the black-red-black dress combination. That’s why the game in Eindhoven was a first for Munich.
In the last meeting between the two clubs, Bayern wore white pants in addition to black jerseys.
