FC Bayern is apparently withdrawing from poker around Nico Schlotterbeck (26) for the moment. At least that’s what the current issue of ‘Sport Bild’ tells us. Specifically it says: “A transfer that has been discussed in the meantime” the central defender of Borussia Dortmund “currently off the table”.
The sports paper also provides a reason. Dayot Upamecano (27) is about to extend his contract, which expires in the summer; he forms the center of defense together with Jonathan Tah (29). Hiroki Ito (26), Min-jae Kim (29) and Josip Stanisic (25) are available as replacements. The latter should play more of a role in central defense in the future as soon as the Munich team has managed to bag the desired signing of full-back Givairo Read (19/Feyenoord Rotterdam).
Bavarian flirt on the market
Hot rumors at FCB
If, contrary to expectations, Kim still requests a change on Säbener Straße, “the situation could change”. However, as things currently stand, it doesn’t look like that will happen, after all, the South Korean has made no secret of wanting to assert himself on Säbener Straße in the past.
Just in case, Marc Guéhi (25) from Crystal Palace also remains a candidate – if he comes onto the market for a free transfer in the summer. Although his contract on the island expires in a little less than six months, Manchester City wants to bring the English central defender on board immediately. At the end of the season he would prefer a move to the Isar (FT reported).
Meanwhile, Luka Vuskovic (18), who is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur to Hamburger SV, has been offered to the German record champions. The FCB is following the development of the header monster very closely, but cooperation is currently not a priority, ‘Sport Bild’ rounds off the topic. Loud FTBayern have also targeted Tiago Gabriel (21) from US Lecce and Tylel Tati (17) from FC Nantes.
Good for BVB
Back to Schlotterbeck: If the Bundesliga table leaders actually do not make a concrete move towards Schlotterbeck, that would be good news for BVB, who are working hard on an extension with the top performer. But it doesn’t mean that the left-footer will stay on board. Other top clubs, including Real Madrid, Liverpool FC, Manchester City and FC Barcelona, are in the draw.
