Mladen Bartolović he left this world at the age of 49. He performed his last football function as a coach at the young school Cibalije, a club that launched him during his playing career in Dinamo Zagreb, later Zagreb, Hajduk and Fulad Ahvaz, before retiring in January 2015 at the address in Vinkovac.
Not long after the sad news hit the airwaves, Cibalia took to social media to speak out.
“Mladen Bartolović has left us. At the age of 49, after a long and serious illness, a man left an immeasurable and indelible mark on Cibalia. With his moves and goals, he delighted everyone who has the color sky blue in his heart, and in the history of our club he will be remembered as the club’s best scorer in the first division, and as the third player with the most appearances for Cibalia in modern history,” wrote the Vinkovac club, and left a message of condolence and the Croatian Football Association:
“At the age of 49, after a long and serious illness, Mladen Bartolović, who left a deep mark on Croatian football with his appearances in SuperSportHNL, passed away. The Croatian Football Association expresses its deepest condolences to his family for this irreparable loss,” wrote the umbrella football club.
The Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina also left a message. Bartolović played 17 games for the Dragons national team and scored one goal.
“After a long and serious illness, Mladen Bartolović left us too soon today. We express our deepest condolences to his family, friends, teammates and everyone whose lives he touched. Thank you for everything and goodbye, dear Mladen!”, reads the post of Hajduk from Split.
Also, the ever-faithful Ultras, the most passionate fans of Cibalia from Vinkovac, to which Bartolović dedicated a large part of his football life, offered their condolences.
“Mladen, rest in the peace of God. The funeral of our Mladen will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 at the local cemetery in Nuštra,” said the Vinkovac Ultras.
