Football fans who watched the Supercopa final between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid (3-2) on Sunday evening were annoyed by Sierd de Vos’ comments.
And that wasn’t completely inexplicable. The very attractive match, which completely ignited after 35 minutes, certainly did not receive the match coverage it deserved.
In addition, De Vos made a remarkable mistake shortly before the end of the first half. When the referee whistles for the fourth kick-off of the match after the 2-1 score, De Vos interprets it as the half-time signal. “The match is over,” he says, as the game continues to unfold.
Moments later, Real Madrid’s second equalizer came in the seventh minute of injury time. “The 2-2 does not count, because the first half was already over according to Sierd de Vos,” a user notes sarcastically on X.
His overall style of commentary has earned him tons of criticism. “Sierd is talking like an undertaker again,” writes a viewer on social media platform X.
“Such enthusiasm from Sierd,” another sarcastically notes, “It doesn’t really make it fun to watch the final.” Another asks a number of hyperbolic questions: “Is Sierd in conflict with his employer or something? Is this pot of community service? Is a loved one being held hostage? What’s going on?”
“Sierd really can’t do it anymore,” says a viewer. “No experience at all. It’s really so intensely boring to watch football this way. Very unfortunate.” Another addresses Ziggo SportsDe Vos’ employer. “How dare you ignore this for so long? The same nonsense has been going on for two years now. Now fire that Grace!”
“Can Sierd de Vos please stop commenting on important matches?” begged another. “Literally 3 goals in 5 minutes and the guy says: ‘He’s in, 2-2.’ Really cut it down with this man, there is zero emotion in it.”
“Sierd the fox is the worst thing about this match,” concluded another. He can count on support. “Competition at top level, commentary at amateur level. Sierd takes out all the tension. It is incomprehensible that this has gone on for so long.”

“Sierd de Vos could better become a commentator in chess or checkers. Bloodless drivel while the match is spectacular,” it also reads. “I wonder who took the fun out of Sierd de Vos’s comment. What’s wrong with him?” a user finally sounds concerned.
