Rashford has scored seven goals and provided eight assist for Barcelona since moving from Manchester United on loan earlier this season. Once inserted into the ‘bomb squad‘ by Ruben Amorim after returning from his loan spell at Aston Villa and being banned from training with United’s first team, Flick and the Catalan Team then decided to recruit him to add depth to the team’s attack line.
Flick said in December: “All I can say, he is a truly professional player. His attitude and mentality are incredible. At first, he had to adapt a bit, but now he is at his best level. I spoke to the players when they weren’t playing, explained the reasons, and what he said to me on the last day was, ‘Boss, you don’t need to tell me this, it’s about the team. We have to win the three points, nothing else matters’. That’s the right attitude. The mentality he has is fantastic and I’m very happy he’s here.”
The forward has played in all but one of Barca’s games, although his place in the starting XI has been threatened by the return of Raphinha who has returned from injury, with Rashford instead proving to be an effective substitute. He is also Barca’s top scorer in the Champions League. But despite all the progress he has made less than a year after being sent off from Old Trafford, there is no guarantee that Barca will attempt to make his move permanent.
