Huelva has taken an important step in the organization of the 2026 European Badminton Championships by officially presenting the brand and mascot of the event. Just three months before the start of the championship, which will be held from April 6 to 12 at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace, the city is preparing to receive the elite of continental badminton. This event will not only have a sporting impact, but also an economic, tourist and social impact, positioning Huelva as a benchmark in the organization of international events.
The championship will have a special emotional charge, since it responds to Carolina Marín’s express wish that this event be held in her homeland, where she would like to put the finishing touch to her sporting career. During the presentation event, the official image of the championship was unveiled, based on a fan made up of badminton shuttlecocks, which connects the event with the Andalusian cultural identity.
The official mascot was also presented, a wolf named Luz, which represents both the identification of Carolina Marín as a fighting wolf, and the name of Huelva as the Costa de la Luz. Luz wears an outfit inspired by what Carolina wore at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The 2026 Badminton European Championships will bring together more than 200 athletes from more than 20 countries, including Olympic and world champions. The event will project the image of Huelva internationally, with television broadcast in 15 countries on three continents that have already acquired the rights. With the brand, the mascot and the institutional support, the city accelerates the countdown to a championship that aspires to be unforgettable.
