Do you know someone who has done something very special in the work with talent development in Danish badminton, and who you think deserves to be praised for his hard work? Nominate that person for Badminton Denmark’s Talent Award 2026.

– I am incredibly proud of that. It is competent colleagues who have voted for me, so the recognition can hardly be greater. It means a lot to get a pat on the back for the great work I put in every single day. I think about badminton 24 hours a day, so it also causes some deprivation for the wife and family, so it’s nice to have that recognition. Thus, last year’s winner Arne Moesgaard put words to the award and its importance.

Badminton Denmark’s Talent Award is awarded every spring to a person who has done something very special for the development of new talent in our sport. The award can go to a youth coach, a talent manager, a head coach, a zealot, a member of a club’s management or anyone else in a function who over a number of years has contributed to the development of tomorrow’s stars.

If you know of one, you must send a written motivation on a maximum of one A4 page, in which it is justified why the candidate should win Badminton Denmark’s Talent Award based on the criteria below. A photo of the candidate is also attached to the nomination. It must also be clearly stated who is the sender.

Anyone can nominate a candidate for the award. The nomination of the candidate must be sent to ulja@badminton.dk no later than February 23 at 12.00.

Badminton Denmark’s talent prize panel nominates candidates from among those nominated, and the panel itself can also nominate candidates for Badminton Denmark’s talent prize. 3 candidates are nominated for voting.

The members of the Badminton Denmark Talent Award panel 2026 are:

  • Michael Kjeldsen, Elite officer in Badminton Denmark’s main board
  • Jens Meibom, Head of Sports at Badminton Denmark
  • Lars Uhre, Head of Talent Development at Badminton Denmark
  • Peter Nedergaard, Talent Development Consultant at Badminton Denmark
  • Jonas Lyduch, U19 Head coach in Badminton Denmark
  • Arne Moesgaard, last year’s winner of Badminton Denmark’s Talent Award

The final award recipient will be found by a vote among selected talent coaches – including youth national coaches, talent center coaches and teachers on badminton coaching courses.

The nominees’ efforts are characterized by:

The talent development environment, e.g. by
– The fact that training and activities offer challenges requires focus and commitment
– That everyone takes responsibility for development and cooperation both of themselves and the environment
– That there is a focus on strengthening social relationships, joy and well-being in the environment
– That there is commitment and sincere interest in the badminton talents – both as young players and as young people.

Badminton-related and personal development, e.g. by
– That the focus is on the long-term development of the badminton players rather than the short-term result
– That the training meets the principles of age-related training
– That there is a focus on the development of sporting, personal and social skills
– That the focus is on the players learning to master the ups and downs they experience in their badminton career.
– That the players are dressed to handle the transition from youth player (talent) to senior player (elite)

Own skills and development, e.g. by
– To engage in one’s own development as well as train and improve one’s skills specifically in relation to working with and developing young talents.

The award is considered a “One time Award”, and therefore it is not possible to nominate previous winners. Previous nominees may well be nominated again.
