Badminton Bundesliga 2026 Final Four: Saarbrücken News

Saarbrücken is once again the stage for the Bundesliga season finale

The 1. BC Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim hosted the Final Four of the 1st Badminton Bundesliga again in 2026. The board of the German Badminton League Association (DBLV) had entrusted the Saarlanders with hosting the final round of the German team championship. The game was played on April 18th and 19th, 2026 in the traditional Joachim-Deckarm-Halle in Saarbrücken.

With the award, the DBLV once again confirmed its trust in one of the most renowned badminton locations in Germany.

Clear tournament format without quarter-finals

The Final Four was played over two days. The two semi-final games were scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026. The first place in the main round met the fourth place, while the second in the table played against the third. A quarter-final was not planned.

The two winners of the semi-finals qualified for the final on Sunday, April 19, 2026. There, the German team champion for the 2025/26 season was determined in a direct duel.

Experience was the deciding factor for the award

For the 1st BC Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim, it was already the third Final Four in Saarbrücken after the events in 2018 and 2023. According to DBLV, the decisive factor for the renewed award was, above all, the club’s great organizational experience and professionalism in holding high-profile international events.

In the past, the club had successfully organized, among other things, the HYLO Open, European Championships and previous Final Four tournaments, thereby gaining an excellent reputation as an organizer.

Liedke: “Use the home advantage again”

BCB board member Frank Liedke was extremely satisfied with the decision. The Final Four has a special significance for the club, not only in terms of sport but also emotionally.

At the last home Final Four in 2023, Saarbrücken surprisingly won the championship title. In 2026, the club will continue to combine its role as host with sporting ambition and once again bring home advantage into an exciting title race.

Most successful club in Bundesliga history

The 1. BC Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim was once again one of the most successful clubs in German badminton history in 2026. The club secured five championship titles in a row between 2006 and 2010 and later celebrated further successes – including in the 2014/15, 2015/16, 2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2022/23 seasons.

Saarbrücken as a fixture in German badminton

By hosting the Final Four in 2026, Saarbrücken once again underlined its importance as a central badminton location in Germany. Fans could look forward to a high-class season finale with the four best teams in the Bundesliga – embedded in a professionally organized event that combined sporting quality and a big stage.
